My flight left at 4pm and I arrived in Port Elizabeth at 5:45pm. Flying is far nicer than the awful Greyhound. Flying is 4 hours including waiting and the drive from the airport to Grahamstown. Bussing on the other hand is usually 16 hours in sweltering heat and unpleasant smells. If you book at the right time they are similarly priced too.
Cliff and Shaggy
came to pick me up. Shaggy both drank and gave me beer, while Cliff
drove at a responsibly fast speed. There were no seat belts in the back
and I feared for my life.
We got back and had a braai at Moredork, Russell's new digs, so called as it used to be full of jocks and named Mordor, now it is full of geeks. Met Matt Rumbold who is back from Zim to do an MSc in English after teaching for a year to repay his government loan. There was also a Darb-like hippy named Rory.
They went out while Cliff and I went home. The digs is looking awesome, with some additions by Hayley (one of the house-mates) and her mother. Wi-fi is alright but the Estate Agents, Homenet, have done absolutely nothing on the list I gave them at the beginning of December, not even the items marked 'critical'. Cliff showed me where he works, made me realise I should do a CCNA or the like to get a better idea of the nitty-gritty of networking.
Yee-Ha. Looks set to be a good year.
