The application involved a standard copy-paste from my CV, but two of the questions were quite interesting and I thought I would copy-paste my responses here. Try to ignore the *nudge*lookAtMyCV*nudge* style of writing:
What is your dream career?
My dream career would be to head up my own computer and information security consulting company. My company would seek to provide a total security solution for customers. Some of the services I would like to provide would be; redesigning systems and processes for security, implementing best practises security architectures, constant monitoring and defense of customer infrastructure, forensic services for help with recovering from an attack and
secure code review of software products to prevent software holes.
This career is both my passion and crucial for the developing information age. It is particularly relevant to a South Africa that is lagging behind the rest of the world in its information security practices. I would seek to build a world class company that could help secure South Africa's information infrastructure and ensure its rise to the top.
What value can you add to a company?
I feel I can add much to a company, however, what I look for most is a company that I can pledge loyalty and my passion to. With that in place I feel the rest would follow.
Specifically, I feel I could bring many skills, not just related to my field to a company. The SRC and my other leadership positions have given me experience in both working in and leading groups of peers. My debating and philosophy training have helped my communication and logical argumentation skills. While my field of study has provided me with an ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and develop new uses for existing technologies.
