The funeral was at St. George's Anglican church in Johannesburg. Tributes were sent in from his American family, Keith and Gregg and his London family Phillip and Deitrich. There were also tributes from his friends in America and Saudi Arabia. The coffin was draped in an American flag courtesy of the American embassy, this is because Don was a veteran of the Korean war. They saluted my mother when it was given to her.
My brother and I read our own tributes which was difficult to do without crying and then we carried his coffin out. My mother has been amazing through all of this and I am so thankful for the way she looked after Don.
Don, may you rest in peace and may God bless you.
UPDATE: Don's ashes have been scattered into the sea at the Robberg Peninsula nature reserve, in Plettenberg Bay.
