It is now 11:20 or so and I am about to go to bed to get up at 6:30am and look for a bus. Why do I do this?
Why the hell is the SRC so devoted? We have been killing ourselves getting ready for the 1st years arrival tomorrow. People had to stop making starter packs because of heart palpitations, that scared me.
So why do we do it? We hardly get paid, it is more a token of appreciation. Some may do it for their CV, but frankly there are easier ways to spruce up your CV. I do it because I want to make this an incredible O-Week. Not out of some dedication to the univeristy or some bizzarre sense of duty, Ryan claims to have. I just want to do a damn good job, sit back at the end and say, "We did that". WTF? I think it is my ego trying to exert itself in some new and bizzarre way.
As for the upcoming week, I am looking forward to it. We have organised some amazing events. The starter packs are looking really good too. I wrote a letter to all the new students, which turned out really well.
On an administrative note I have finally managed to set my room up perfectly. Alex sat with me and gave me some good ideas. The sub-warden Lovemore was also really helpfull, along with everyone else. For example when I asked him where I could store some stuff while I unpacked (including a stinky dirty carpet) he just went and put it in his room, no worries. I am so unused to the friendlyness with which the people in this hall do their jobs. My PA arrived tonight and starts work tomorrow, which will take a load off as I can get her to sort out all my little tasks that still need doing.
Haven't seen Jason much, starting to miss the little blighter. Well will have more time after o-week. Speaking of friends, Sam sms'ed last night. It was nice to hear from him again. I am also starting to worry about the Callie thing again. How do I patch it up? Do I even want to patch it up?
Anyway, troubles for another time. Just read a comment on a previous post from Danni, made me miss her even more, escpecially since I didn't speak to her tonight. Oh well only 5 sleeps left.
